What Is Encryption?
On a simple level, encryption is taking coherent information and jumbling it into nonsense. After it’s encrypted, whatever the data comprises—customer information, emails, images or video, cannot be interpreted without a key. It makes critical data, in transit or at rest, impossible to read, allowing businesses to add an additional and necessary layer of security as a final method of defense against data breaches.
