JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 1, 2011) – Peak 10 Inc., a managed services company with world-class data centers, is pleased to announce it is providing services to the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), an independent government agency responsible for the development of public seaport facilities in Jacksonville, Fla, which will allow the authority to fully implement its disaster recovery plan. The enterprise-class facilities on Peak 10’s Jacksonville campus will provide JAXPORT with a fully secure and hardened infrastructure for its mission-critical data and business continuity needs.
“Efficiency is crucial in the maritime cargo industry and we are always looking for ways to reduce the potential for business continuity disruptions,” said Chris Kauffmann, JAXPORT’s chief operating officer. “We ultimately chose the support of Peak 10 because of its excellent data centers, superior physical security and quality customer service. After transitioning part of our production environment to Peak 10 and putting our own disaster recovery plan in place, we now have continuous failover in the event of natural catastrophes and malfunctions.”
JAXPORT, an independent government agency created by the Florida legislature, operates primarily as a landlord, managing the upkeep, improvement and expansion of Port Authority facilities and coordinating their use by private companies. The physical facilities owned by JAXPORT include docks and wharfs, cranes, a passenger cruise terminal, warehouses, paved open storage areas and road connections to the public highway system. The Port Authority provides and maintains the terminals and their equipment and manages the overall use of the facilities.
“Given its contributions to the economic growth and vitality of Northeast Florida and maintenance of a major U.S. port, downtime is not an option for JAXPORT,” said Mike Stockwell, the vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Jacksonville. “With our around-the-clock support, our hardened data center, and a well-tested and thorough DR solution in place, JAXPORT can have peace of mind knowing it can operate efficiently to best serve Florida and connecting the state to major trade lanes throughout the world.”
