The Technology City of the South just got 15,000 square feet larger.

Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta, is home to Peak 10’s newest data center expansion. Why Alpharetta? Well, it’s also home to over one quarter of metro Atlanta’s top 25 technology employers. There are over 600 technology companies in Alpharetta and 900 in the greater Fulton County area alone. As our CEO Dave Jones said at the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, “we are witnessing a remarkable shift as this region becomes a magnet for technology and innovation.”

As our CEO Dave Jones said at the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony, “we are witnessing a remarkable shift as this region becomes a magnet for technology and innovation.”

Health IT companies, finance, telecom, Internet security and the mobile payments business are flourishing here. These are exactly the types of companies that Peak 10, with its secure, compliant and robust IT infrastructure, cloud and managed services, is perfectly suited to serve.

This is much more to the Alpharetta operation than a 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art data center, however (the first of three build-out phases). Given the abundance of office space on the 12-acre campus, the facility also has a 100-seat event space available to our customers and the community. We will be building out a business continuity/disaster recovery operation that will include complementary office space for our customers’ use in emergencies. As of now, Peak 10 operates three facilities with more than 100,000 square feet of data center space in the Atlanta market. In the next couple of years, the two planned 15,000 square-foot Alpharetta expansions will be brought online.

If attendance at our The August 28th ribbon cutting ceremony is any indication of market interest in Peak 10 here, we are off to a great start ( register here to attend our Alpharetta Grand Opening, October 1, 2014 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.) . The VIP event attracted nearly 75 customers, business partners and community and civic dignitaries from around the area including Lancope, our first Alpharetta customer; Lancope is a fast-growing network security company originating out of the Georgia Tech Advanced Technology Development Center.

Area media coverage of the opening was broad-based and positive, illustrating the importance of technology development and expansion to the economic base of the region. In an interview, Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle described the new facility and data and storage services as “enablers” for other businesses, which is exactly how we think of Peak 10 as well.

There’s more. Each new commissioned data center brings benefits to not just the immediate geography but to the entire base of customers who depend on Peak 10’s national network of data centers and cloud services. The added capacity and geographic diversity improve our ability to serve customers, seamlessly accommodate their growth, offer more storage, data replication and disaster recovery options, and expand our knowledge base and expertise.

With the ribbon-cutting prelude behind us, next up on the docket for the Alpharetta facility is the grand opening. Everyone is welcome to attend. Register here to see up close and personal how a state-of-the art data center performs.
