Florida’s Volunteers of America Chooses Peak 10 for Disaster Preparedness

TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 12, 2010) – Peak 10 Inc., a managed services company with world-class data centers, was chosen by Volunteers of America of Florida to protect its mission-critical data. The national, nonprofit, faith-based organization is dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. The organization will protect itself through a disaster recovery secondary site within an enterprise-class data center facility on Peak 10 Tampa’s campus.

“Companies without a disaster preparedness and recovery plan risk losing everything during an emergency situation,” said Debra Curtiss, the vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Tampa. “Through the utilization of a disaster recovery secondary site at Peak 10 Tampa, Volunteers of America of Florida is prepared for any unexpected occurrence that may hinder the organization’s ability to function efficiently. Their precautionary planning demonstrates the agency’s dedication to its volunteers and the people it serves.”

Volunteers of America of Florida is a chapter of the national nonprofit organization that strives to uplift the human spirit and empower the people it serves to reach their full potential. The organization provides the community with opportunities to serve as volunteers, board members and staff. In addition, the agency is a leader in home-based behavioral healthcare services and is accredited by the joint commission. Through its 16 locations statewide, volunteers serve people of all shapes and sizes including veterans in need, the elderly, people with severe and persistent mental illnesses, and people engaging in substance abuse.

“As one of the largest human services organizations in the state, we serve an immense group of people who depend not only on our volunteers, but also the availability of our online resources,” said Kathryn Spearman, the president and CEO of Volunteers of America of Florida. “While we can take the necessary precautions to protect our mission-critical data in-house, it is never truly protected unless it is replicated and overseen by a trusted partner like Peak 10. We can now focus on our top priority, which is serving our Florida communities.”

Peak 10 Tampa’s managed IT and data center services improve performance and reliability, lower costs and maximize internal resources for customers while keeping their valuable information technology assets close to the business.
